Water...

We need water to live, it is absolutely essential for our survival. Without it we would die, it is so important that 75% of the world is made up of it, and 75% of our body is too! But you can't just drink any old water, you need pure clean water, to refresh your thirst, nothing else does it quite as well.

Water comes in different forms, such as rivers, seas, oceans, fountains, and others. When it freezes it is called ice. There is yet another form of water, one in which we need to drink very deeply of. Can you guess what it is?

Jesus is called the living water in many places in the Bible. Of Him we need to sit by the stream and drink. It will refresh better than our real water any day. We do this by spending time with Him, in prayer, Bible study, or singing or playing songs.

I am going now to quote some of the scriptures that say He is the living water.

Jeremiah 2:13 - For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Jeremiah 17:13 - O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

And of course we all know the story of the woman of Samaria, better known as the woman at the well. People everywhere are thirsty for this water. They have a desire to be satisfied, to be refreshed. But who can tell them of the living water, those of us who drink of it daily!

Every true disciple is born into the kingdom of God as a missionary. He who drinks of the living water becomes a fountain of life. The receiver becomes a giver. The grace of Christ in the soul is like a spring in the desert, welling up to refresh all, and making those who are ready to perish eager to drink of the water of life.—The Desire of Ages, 195.

I want to drink of this water, don't you?
